A rare hand-signed plate from Foujita’s celebrated A Book of Cats (1930), widely regarded as “the most desirable book on cats ever published.” While each copy of the edition of 500 was signed in the colophon, only a small number of individual plates were additionally hand-signed by Foujita.
This subject, showing a domestic tabby drinking from a shallow dish, is among Foujita’s most iconic cat studies. Examples of hand-signed plates are highly sought after by collectors internationally.

Condition: Minor handling mark in margin, 1.5mm historical blot stain in centre of piece, stable and present in original auction catalogue.
